A 2-Step Prop is one of the most common evaluation models in prop trading. In this model, traders must demonstrate their skills, risk management, and ability to achieve trading objectives through two evaluation phases.
In the first phase, the trader must reach a specified profit target while following the account rules and defined limits. After successfully completing this phase, the trader moves on to the second phase, which usually comes with different conditions and a different profit target.
The purpose of these two phases is to evaluate the trader’s performance under different conditions and ensure their ability to manage capital, control risk, and maintain consistency in trading.
After successfully completing both phases and complying with all the rules, the trader becomes eligible to receive a Funded Account and can earn income from their trading performance based on the conditions of the selected plan.
